Johnny Day

Originally born and raised in Southern Indiana before entering the US Marines where I enjoyed a 24-year career.  As a Marine, I have been stationed at various bases, both east coast, west coast and in between as well as two US Embassies located in Yemen and the Bahamas. Upon retirement I served in various leadership positions in the Department of Veterans Affairs, Defense Finance and Account Service and the US Census Bureau for over 12 years.  Kristy and I moved to Virginia 6 years ago to settle down and I have now fully retired.  I have a passion for woodworking and currently operate a small sawmill operation where I turn fallen and unwanted trees into usable lumber. I enjoy volunteering for organizations that support Veterans by serving with the Marine Corps League, James M. Slay Detachment as well as supporting the Veterans and Athletes United.

Kristy and I enjoy the country lifestyle in Charles City County with a small flock of free-range chickens and two spoiled cats on a secluded wooded portion of paradise.  Together we are active in the First Simple Church located at the foot of the bridge.

Together Kristy I have six children, all grown and living in places like Kansas, Georgia, Indiana, Florida and two in Virginia.  We both enjoy visiting the kids and the many grandchildren as often as we can.
